Confessions of a Shopaholic - Movie Review
I can't believe this movie didn't even break into the top three this Valentine's weekend despite the movie theatre on Saturday night being completely packed!
Oh well and with that said, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by all those lovely boyfriends and husbands who sucked it up and patiently sat through this movie by their significant other’s sides. While this movie has chick flick written all over it I will say that my boyfriend actually enjoyed it, or so he says!
Now onto the actual movie review...
Isla Fisher is absolutely wonderful. Her undeniable talent for physical and comedic characterization has always been genius in my mind and her character (Rebecca Bloomwood) in this movie is no exception. She’s lovable, awkward, and funny all at once. While she’s very eccentric and over-the-top at times, I believe that in one way or another the shopaholic in us all can simply relate.
Rebecca Bloomwood is an endearing, cutthroat shopaholic whose naïve ways have launched her into massive amounts of debt. Rebecca is chasing after her dream job at a high fashion magazine all while juggling a full-blown addiction to shopping and her current job at a financial magazine. She becomes tangled in a web of lies and pesky creditors are trying to ruin her job credibility. However, she has more to lose than just her job. She could lose the things that matter to her the most...her best friend and the one she loves.
I won’t spoil the movie for you but you really need to go see this movie! Just fight the sudden urge to go shopping after you do! :)
